Las Vegas.  The name evokes images of neon-lit casinos, of flamboyant clubs and bars, of poker games and raucous nights in the desert.  With its colourful past and fascinating culture, this metropolis is home to fine dining establishments, sprawling entertainment precincts, high-end shopping, massive hotel-casinos and a vast array of bars and clubs.  During daylight hours, there’s also a sizeable line-up of attractions that cater to the whole family, so it doesn’t matter whether you’re part of a unit or an adult in search of adventure – Las Vegas is guaranteed to delight you.

The casino-hotels of the Vegas Strip can be intimidating for visitors thanks to their opulence and sheer size.  The appropriately-named Caesars Palace is a haven for sports lovers, with a massive sports book dedicated to giving visitors the chance to win big on a huge variety of sporting matches.  For poker players – both casual and veteran – Bellagio offers 40 tables with a mix of playing options, while ARIA has one of the largest slot-machine (pokies) floors in the whole city.  Non-gamblers can find satisfaction at MGM Grand, which has a diversity of arcade games, beer pong, billiards and other forms of entertainment.

Eating and shopping are also easily accomplished – Las Vegas is a city designed to meet every need.  Although virtually every casino-hotel has in-house restaurants of some kind, along with services like massages and spas, it’s always a good idea to experience areas outside of the Las Vegas Strip.  As might be expected, the culinary scene is a collision of gourmet cultural offerings, including Chinese, Italian, Spanish, Mexican and Southern-style barbeque.  Try Lamaii’s modernist Thai, take some happy snaps at Blume, or relax in Mott 32’s elegant Cantonese-inspired surrounds.  For an exciting shopping experience, visit the Forum Shops, which are architecturally-inspired by ancient Rome, browse through the neon-lit Grand Bazaar Shops, or pop into the ultra-expensive Shops At Crystals.  Even if you’re not looking to splurge, window-shopping in one of the most luxurious places in the world is always fun.

And what about attractions that the whole family can enjoy?  Red Rock Canyon is a great starting point – this naturally-hued landscape is perfect for hiking and rock climbing.  At the Neon Museum, check out Las Vegas’s signage history, or visit the Shark Reef Aquarium to see sea creatures and reptiles on display.  The Adventuredome Theme Park and the Mob Museum are also fantastic places to spend some time, but the city’s must-see site is the Grand Canyon.  At roughly five hours out of Vegas, it’s a full-day excursion, but well worth it.  It’s one of the world’s most famous natural wonders, and the iconic vista will stay in your memory long after you’ve returned home.
