Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area

1000 Scenic Loop Dr, Las Vegas, NV 89161, USA

Based in the Mojave Desert, the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is famed for its crimson-hued sandstone formations, caused by the oxidisation of iron deposits.  It’s also notable for its Paleozoic limestone accumulations, which contain the fossilised remains of prehistoric sea life, and its dinosaur footprints, which are preserved in the stone at Red Rock Canyon.  Visitors can choose from 26 different hiking trails, which showcase different aspects of the spectacular Nevada landscape.
