This iconic engineering mishap is what Pisa on the global map, and is a must-see for tourists. Not only is it the perfect prop for some creative photos, it’s also slightly disconcerting to climb – you’ll start to feel the 3.97-degree lean as you ascend its narrow inner staircase. The Tower is actually the campanile for the nearby Pisa Cathedral, which is a beautiful, dramatic examples of Romanesque architecture, and also well worth a look.
