Roughly translated as ‘The Museum of Old Boats’, this remarkable centre has, quite literally, the only surviving Roman galley in the world, along with another twelve intact ships and boats, which were excavated from an archaeological dig outside Pisa. Incredibly, much of their cargo also survived, including amphorae, ropes, on-board equipment, bags, baskets and more.
