The Margaret River wine region is aptly named.  Dotted with high-calibre wineries and a range of gourmet eateries, it’s a peaceful, scenic area perfect for a relaxing getaway with plenty of family-friendly attractions.

It’s a traditionally adults-only activity, but wine-tasting in the Margaret River is designed to be family-friendly, so there’s plenty of activities to keep the kids occupied.  If you choose to go on a guided tour, you’ll get to experience the best vineyards in combination with an array of paired cheese and meat boards, along with detailed and in-depth explanations of the Margaret River’s iconic location.  Travelling solo can also be fun, particularly if you like to sample wines at your own pace, and there’s a number of must-see choices, like Leeuwin Estate, Stella Bella Wines and McHenry Hohnen Cellar Door.

Cape Naturaliste, fringed by the turquoise waters of Geographe Bay, is a sprawling national park threaded with hiking trails that’s perfect for a quick dose of escapism.  Walking and bike-riding are both options for exploring this beautiful reserve.  If you’re going in summer, visiting the cape’s quadruplet of underground caves is definitely recommended; Ngilgi, Mammoth, Lake and Giants Cave can all be explored with guided tours, and are child-friendly, with an easy pace and plenty of rest-stops.

Other fun activities include swimming and snorkelling at any of the region’s placid beaches, as well as browsing through boutique beach shops and handmade artisan wares.
