Iyashi no Sato

Japan, 〒401-0332 Yamanashi, Minamitsuru District, Fujikawaguchiko, Saiko, 根場 2710

Iyashi no Sato is built on the bones of a former village destroyed in a 1966 typhoon; now, visitors can explore a reconstructed traditional Japanese community, which features museums, gift shops, restaurants and art galleries.  Wandering among picturesque, thatched-roofed cottages is fun, but there’s a lot more to do than just look.  Many of the buildings offer hands-on craft workshops, so you can try creating items like pottery, washi paper, charcoal and soba noodles.  As one of the Five Lakes’ more unique offerings, Iyashi no Sato is definitely worth a visit.
