Uluwatu Temple

Pecatu, South Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali, Indonesia

Built on the edge of a seventy-metre cliff, Uluwata Temple gazes out at the vastness of the Indian Ocean, but the stunning view is just one of this sacred site’s many attractions.  Estimated to have been originally built during the 10th century, it’s perfect for history lovers; you’ll also pass a small ‘monkey forest’, which is home to hundreds of primates and is believed to protect the temple from evil influences.  As one of Bali’s most holy buildings, this is definitely a must-see for tourists interested in Indonesian culture.
