Place du Vieux Marché, 76000 Rouen, France
The Church of St. Joan of Arc isn’t another of Rouen’s medieval offerings; in fact, it was constructed in 1979 as a homage to the city’s most famous individual. With its skewed, scaled ceiling and unconventional shape, this isn’t your typical church, although it does feature traditional stained-glass windows transplanted from the medieval Church of Saint Vincent. Even if you don’t normally go church-hopping, St. Joan’s is well worth a look, both for the legacy of its namesake and its unique architectural style.
