Resort Report – November 2023

We are just a few weeks away from finishing 2023 and a number of refurbishments currently happening across the club portfolio are due to conclude.

We will look at these projects in this Resort Report, provide an update about Club Wyndham South Pacific housekeeping fees and look at some special events owners recently enjoyed. And some of your resorts are already gearing up for Christmas lunch!

PROPERTY DEVELOPMENT UPDATES

The refurbishment of all 82 club rooms at Club Wyndham Dunsborough has finished. Owners will experience the following changes:

  • New colour scheme of rooms reflecting the local environment and nearby beaches
  • Brand new furniture, beds, and soft furnishings
  • Refreshed bathrooms and powder rooms
  • New kitchen benchtops and resurfaced cabinets in standard and deluxe apartments
  • Second bathroom in two-bedroom Grand apartments
  • Five accessible rooms refurbished to meet national disability access standards

                                                                                   Deluxe studio

                                                                         2-bedroom apartment

Refurbishments for all 60 club apartments at Club Wyndham Golden Beach have been completed. These include new kitchens, bathrooms, flooring, furniture, curtains, and the addition of external shutters on the balconies.

                                                                                       Kitchen

Refurbishments at Club Wyndham Denarau Island have concluded in all 155 club apartments, with window furnishings and final touches to be completed by December 2023.

The project to refresh apartments at Club Wyndham Wanaka and Club Wyndham Rotorua is almost finished, with the final touches slated to be completed by December 2023.

Refurbishments will begin on the upper floors of Club Wyndham Kirra Beach in April 2024.

We are committed to improving our properties and ensuring that owners have a comfortable stay. We appreciate your patience and cooperation during refurbishments and construction.

2024 HOUSEKEEPING COSTS UPDATE

You would have recently received communication from the club detailing how to access your annual levy and the reasons for a levy increase in 2024. We can now provide more information about changes to the price of housekeeping.

Rising costs and inflation continue to be felt by all and the cost of providing housekeeping services has been no exception. As a result, a price increase to housekeeping fees (payable when owners do not have sufficient housekeeping tokens) is necessary for 2024.

Rather than impose a blanket increase across all Club apartment types to cover the increasing costs, the Responsible Entity, Wyndham Vacation Clubs South Pacific, has settled on an increase based on apartment size following an audit of expenditure on the different apartment types.

We believe this is a fair way to apportion the increases necessary. Price increases range from 5.5 per cent for a Studio Deluxe to 9.71 per cent increase for 3-bedroom Presidential.

Increases for Deluxe apartments average approximately 5.75 per cent and Grand apartments sit at an average of 7.5 per cent.

To see the full listing of housekeeping rates for 2024, go to your Owner Dashboard, select Owners’s FAQs, and click Housekeeping Rates.

RESORT UPDATES AND SPECIAL EVENTS WITH CLUB OWNERS

RESORT UPDATES AND SPECIAL EVENTS WITH CLUB OWNERS

Some owners staying at Club Wyndham Ballarat went on an exciting time-travel adventure to Kryal Castle’s Medieval Festival. At the festival, they transformed into lords and ladies, indulging in delicious food, live performances, and an immersive medieval experience.

HM AWARD RECOGNITIONS

Wishes by Wyndham, the philanthropic arm of Wyndham Destinations Asia Pacific, was recently recognised at the HM Magazine Hotel Management Awards, winning the Service to the Community category. The charity, supported by both staff and Club Wyndham South Pacific owners, has raised more than AU$700,000 for worthy causes since its inception.

All funds are raised by way of donation or through events organised by Wishes by Wyndham.

Club Wyndham Rotorua was also given a “Highly Commended” in the New Zealand Midscale Hotel category.

The HM Awards are the leading accommodation industry awards recognising the best properties, people, departments and brands in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific.

Every year, the judging committee sorts through more than 1,500 nominations, meaning each win indisputably ranks as a career highlight for the teams involved.

VEGGIE PATCH AT CLUB WYNDHAM PHILLIP ISLAND

The resort team at Club Wyndham Phillip Island has established a beautiful veggie patch for owners and guests to enjoy. Located on the resort’s stunning and expansive grounds, the veggie patch includes an array of Australian native edibles, including river mint, midyim berries, mountain pepper, old man saltbush, native lemongrass, and muntries, alongside garlic, chilli, tomatoes, and strawberries.

The resort team has started work on a small orchard to grow fruit trees, including pears, apples, lemons, and peaches. The produce harvested from the veggie patch and orchard is used in the onsite restaurant and is also available for owners to use in their own cooking endeavors in their fully equipped kitchens. Owners can also take advantage of the resort’s green space to relax and enjoy a picnic while taking in the beautiful surroundings.

CLUB WYNDHAM DENARAU ISLAND’S STAFF AND OWNERS’ CYCLONE PREPARATION

On November 14, the resort staff and owners staying at Club Wyndham Denarau Island in Fiji worked together to prepare for the category 3 Cyclone Mal.

Fortunately, the cyclone did not hit the resort directly, and owners and guests experienced just light showers with only a few strong gusts. We want to express our gratitude to all owners who assisted our team to ensure the property was cyclone-ready and then helped again to prepare the resort for normal operations.

NEW HOBBY FARM ANIMALS AT CLUB WYNDHAM SEVEN MILE BEACH

Club Wyndham Seven Mile Beach has recently expanded its hobby farm family by adding two male Dorset wether sheep, Bert and Ernie. Club owners can visit the hobby farm and feed various animals, including goats, sheep, alpacas, cows, and chickens. Ask at resort reception for more details!

Guided by the resort’s executive chef, George, attendees were treated to a demonstration on how to prepare Kokoda, a traditional Fijian dish made from freshly caught local fish.
