HAMPTONS-STYLE REFURBISHMENT ANNOUNCED FOR CLUB WYNDHAM MARCOOLA BEACH ROOMS
HAMPTONS-STYLE REFURBISHMENT ANNOUNCED FOR CLUB WYNDHAM MARCOOLA BEACH ROOMS
SUNSHINE COAST, QUEENSLAND (12 AUGUST, 2024) – Work has started on a “Hamptons-style” refurbishment of 24 holiday apartments and hotel rooms at Club Wyndham Marcoola Beach, worth close to AU$2 million.
The apartments are undergoing a transformation designed to elevate the guest experience with a classic coastal theme, featuring a welcoming colour palate of blue and white with pops of orange and the use of natural materials inspired by the hotel’s absolute beachfront position.

The apartments will be updated with vinyl timber flooring in common spaces and dark blue carpet in bedrooms, light blue walls, new balcony settings and an emphasis on timber furniture. Deluxe apartments will feature new artwork inspired by local coastal habitats, oversized armchairs and walk-in showers. The overall look is intended to capture the feeling of a laidback beachfront summer, where guests can throw open their expansive windows and enjoy the warm sea breezes through their apartment.
The original tower at the hotel – known as Surfair – was completed in the 1960s, and this project is designed to celebrate contemporary design while paying homage to the prominence of the property in its early days. In the 60s and 70s, chartered flights of VIPs landed at the Maroochydore Airport next door and stayed for the weekend. The highest profile event was a 1971 party where the Duke of Bedford and Lady Fairfax were welcomed with a magnificent seafood buffet, cocktails and three detectives to keep an eye on guest jewellery!
In the 1980s, the hotel also played host to huge music acts, including Cold Chisel, Skyhooks, Midnight Oil, Hunters and Collectors, Hoodoo Gurus, Mental as Anything, The Little River Band, Mondo Rock, The Angels and Jimmy and the Boys.
“We are thrilled to announce a refurbishment for our club apartments that both honours the property’s place in Sunshine Coast history while providing an innovative new experience for our owners and guests,” said Warren Cullum, Senior Vice President Operations.
“Club Wyndham South Pacific commits to updating its apartments under a multi-year cycle and owners are excited about seeing their club apartments refreshed at this popular location. In line with our sustainability commitments, we are pleased to offer our quality used furniture to worthwhile local cause, Lifeline Maroochydore,” he added.
