Itinerary
Day 1 Arrive in Launceston
After arriving at Launceston Airport, collect your rental car and head to your accommodation. Take the opportunity to visit Cataract Gorge, a beautiful natural reserve located just a short distance from the city centre, where you can unwind and soak in the scenic beauty.
Day 2 Explore Tamar Valley Wine Region
Today, journey through the heart of northern Tasmania, the Tamar Valley Wine Route, known for producing some of the finest cool-climate wines in the world. With over 32 wineries within easy driving distance, the valley offers an array of award-winning wines, including Chardonnay, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot. Immerse yourself in this renowned wine region while enjoying stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
Days 3 & 4 Freycinet National Park
Travel to Coles Bay, the gateway to the breathtaking Freycinet National Park. Dominated by the striking pink granite peaks of the Hazards Mountain Range, this park is a haven for nature enthusiasts, offering an abundance of walking trails, wildlife encounters, and activities such as cruising and kayaking. A must-visit highlight is Wineglass Bay, celebrated for its pristine white sands and crystal-clear turquoise waters. Spend two nights in the area, giving you ample time to explore and relax.
Day 5 Coles Bay to Hobart
Continue your adventure south to Hobart, Australia’s second-oldest city, renowned for its history and charm. Originally established in 1804 as a penal colony, Hobart now boasts a vibrant arts scene, picturesque harbour, and an array of restaurants, cafes, and markets. Be sure to visit the famous Salamanca Market, held every Saturday, where you can browse local crafts, produce, and more.
Day 6 Depart from Hobart
Spend your last morning at leisure in Hobart. Explore any remaining sights or simply relax before returning your rental car at Hobart Airport in time for your onward flight.
