Club Wyndham Message from Barry Robinson

 

I am sure you will agree the last year and a half was extremely disruptive for all. The last few months have been particularly disappointing, with the latest round of lockdowns coming at a time when many believed we were getting on top of COVID-19 and normality was around the corner.

My thoughts and the thoughts of our teams are with all Club Wyndham South Pacific owners who have experienced lockdown or who are currently facing this reality.

Our staff have been in lockdown alongside you last year and this year. They experience the same disappointment at every COVID-19 flare-up or a new lockdown. Our teams are passionate about putting you on holiday and it frustrates them when you have no alternative but to cancel a reservation.

Just this week, our Owner Services team cancelled almost 60,000 room nights and rebooked thousands of these over a grueling few days. Many consultants finished work late because they were determined to get the job done. I am proud of how many of our team members have gone above and beyond in their personal time to help owners since the start of the pandemic.

I would like to thank you for your understanding. Most of the feedback we have received has been supportive of our people and that has been heartening to see. Some of them are also experiencing their own personal challenges through the pandemic but put them aside when at work.

When COVID-19 began, there was no way to foretell how long the pandemic would last or that borders would regularly close with little notice. A number of times, it looked as if the situation had eased – only to return with renewed strength.

We are now taking a longer-term view on COVID-19. While there may be an ‘opening date’ for unrestricted travel soon, we believe the effects of COVID-19 may linger for some time. We have therefore been working on inventory strategies to support the increased short-term demand.

The first of these you would have seen earlier this year, with the temporary addition of inventory at Club Wyndham Flynns Beach. The recent announcement of Associate Resorts by the Developer is also designed to give owners a greater number of options.

I look forward to providing you with more information soon. We all appreciate your patience – timeshare is a long-term product, so it is important that we carefully consider the future implications of any decision and there are a number of regulatory constraints that we must work within.
