This hiker’s dream is relatively easy, and, for a roughly four-hour round trip, offers a great view of its fellow mountains. The standard circular route leads over an old forest road – for those wanting something shorter and more challenging, the Breitenstein Window is an interesting alternative. Importantly, Breitenstein’s standard track has two refreshment points, Kesselalm and Hubertushütte, which offer snacks and drinks. On the way home, visitors should stop at the Birkenstein hamlet, which has been a Catholic pilgrimage site for centuries.
