Rotwand, or ‘Red Wall’, is the highest peak in Spitzingsee, Rotwand is popular with skiers, hikers and climbers alike. It’s easily accessible from Schliersee, and, in the absence of snowfall, the walking routes are never difficult. For skiers, access from the Spitzingsee ski resort is recommended. Those who reach Rotwand’s summit will be rewarded with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains – when the skies are clear, the rugged, blue-hued Bavarian Prealps stretch as far as the eye can see.
