Moraine Lake

Banff National Park is stunning, but its crown jewel is Moraine Lake.  Fed by glaciers, Moraine is nestled in the Valley of the Ten Peaks, and the contrast between the barren, snow-shrouded mountains and the deep turquoise waters is one that has enchanted visitors for decades.  Because of Canada’s extreme winters, the lake remains frozen from about October to late May, so check that both it and its access roads are open before you go.
