Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive Christchurch

Pick up your medium SUV from the airport and check in at Crowne Plaza Christchurch in a Standard Room. Spend the afternoon exploring the city or visit the International Antarctic Centre for an immersive introduction to life on the ice, including penguins, simulated storms, and interactive exhibits.

Day 2 Christchurch to Methven

Drive just over an hour to Methven, your gateway to Mt Hutt. Check in to Brinkley Resort in a Studio Room for a two-night stay. Spend the afternoon familiarizing yourself with the village and relaxing before hitting the slopes tomorrow.

Day 3 Mt Hutt Ski Day

Enjoy your first full day on the snow with your NZ Superpass, skiing the legendary runs of Mt Hutt. After an epic day on the mountain, unwind at Opuke Thermal Pools & Spa, soaking in hot pools with alpine views.

Day 4 Methven to Lake Tekapo

Depart Methven and drive south to Lake Tekapo, a two-hour journey through stunning South Island scenery. Check in to Godly Resort Hotel Lake Tekapo in a Standard Lakeview Room for a two-night stay. Relax and enjoy the views of the turquoise lake framed by snow-capped mountains.

Day 5 Lake Tekapo & Hot Springs

Spend the day at your leisure or take a soothing soak at Lake Tekapo Hot Springs. Optional exploration of the surrounding countryside, stargazing at the Dark Sky Reserve, or simply enjoying the alpine scenery from your lakeview room.

Day 6 Lake Tekapo to Queenstown/Wanaka Ski Region

Drive south to Queenstown for a three-night stay at Garden Court Suites & Apartments in a Studio Room. Collect your 4-day NZ Superpass lift ticket and prepare to ski some of the South Island’s most iconic resorts.

Day 7 Coronet Peak Ski Day

Hit the slopes at Coronet Peak, just 20 minutes from Queenstown. Enjoy well-groomed runs, scenic alpine views, and excellent beginner and intermediate terrain. Return to your accommodation for a relaxed evening in Queenstown.

Day 8 The Remarkables Ski Day

Explore The Remarkables with your NZ Superpass. Challenge yourself on advanced runs, enjoy backcountry terrain, or take in the stunning panoramas of the Remarkables mountain range.

Day 9 Depart Queenstown / Christchurch

Return your rental car and transfer to Queenstown or Christchurch Airport for your onward journey, taking home unforgettable memories of South Island skiing and alpine adventures.

Visitors can use their own car, rent one, or ride the special “Lion Bus” to see animals up close. A key highlight is feeding herbivores like giraffes and elephants, and even giving meat to lions and tigers through a protective mesh.

The shrine dates to around 710 AD, founded when a fisherman caught a divine wooden statue in his nets, leading to its establishment under a sacred camphor tree. This power spot enshrines gods of fortune, health, and nature, drawing pilgrims via forested paths.

The pagoda is a striking five-story vermilion structure in Fujiyoshida City and serves as a peace memorial built in 1963 within Arakurayama Sengen Shrine grounds. Perched 400 steps up Mount Arakura, it honours fallen soldiers from World War II and earlier conflicts. Its Edo-period-inspired architecture frames breathtaking views of snow-capped Mount Fuji, especially amid 800 cherry blossoms in spring or autumn foliage.

It is a historic arch bridge spanning the Katsura River gorge in Ōtsuki City. Designated a Place of Scenic Beauty, it exemplifies the rare hanebashi cantilever design with beams anchored into cliff faces, eliminating central supports. Dating to the Edo Period as part of the Kōshū Kaidō highway, its elegant structure inspired ukiyo-e prints by Hiroshige and Hokusai. Legends claim monkeys bridged the chasm, earning its “monkey bridge” name.

Yamanakako, Yamanashi, Japan

The lake is the largest and highest-elevation lake among the Fuji Five Lakes, lies closest to Mount Fuji at 980 metres above sea level. Formed by ancient lava flows, its shallow waters support boating, fishing, windsurfing, camping, and paragliding. Stunning Fuji reflections grace its shores, especially during “Diamond Fuji” sunrises.
