CANADIAN RAIL ROUTES

The Canadian Rockies are a must-visit destination, renowned for their breathtaking vistas of sparkling lakes, snowy mountains, and abundant wildlife. Traveling by rail offers the ultimate way to experience this natural beauty. Our train journey winds alongside rivers, through picturesque mountain towns, and close to stunning, snow-capped peaks. Along the route, guests will have the chance to spot fleeting wildlife such as moose, elk, bighorn sheep, bears, and soaring eagles.

FIRST PASSAGE TO THE WEST

Rocky Mountaineer’s most historic route, running along the very tracks that formed the transcontinental railway, linking Canada from East to West when it opened in 1886. Over a two-day journey, guests travel from the fertile farmlands of the Fraser Valley, through to the desert-like Interior landscape, and on to the craggy peaks, glaciers, and wilderness of the Canadian Rockies.

DAY 1 VANCOUVER TO KAMPLOOPS
Boarding the train in Vancouver, guests enjoy a sumptuous breakfast as you head out of the metropolitan area and start rolling through the Fraser Valley.
Setting off on a Scenic Adventure – Following the Fraser River, you witness the landscape change dramatically as you cross the Coast Mountain Range and see the raging waters of Hell’s Gate.  Over a leisurely three-course lunch, the train crosses the truss arch bridge of Cisco Crossing and the landscape turns more arid.  After a full day on the train, pull into Kamloops with time to have dinner and get a good night’s rest.
DAY 2 KAMPLOOPS TO BANFF
Another day of Awe-Inspiring Beauty from Kamloops, the route continues east, with coffee and breakfast as you travel through the lake strewn Shuswap region. Passing landmarks such as Craigellachie- home of the Last Spike hammered in to complete the original transcontinental railway and the Spiral Tunnels, the train climbs as we get closer to the Canadian Rockies. After another leisurely lunch, you move deeper into the alpine, takin in Lake Louise and then Castle Mountain before arriving in Banff.

JOURNEY TROUGH THE CLOUDS

This route takes guests through some of the most untouched, breathtaking natural beauty on the planet – with many areas that can’t be accessed in any other way! This two-day route travels through scenic valleys, the Coast Mountain Range, and the Fraser Canyon with its white-water rapids and dramatic landscape, before heading north to the Albreda Glacier and Pyramid Falls.
DAY 1 VANCOUVER – KAMLOOPS
DAY 2 KAMLOOPS TO JASPER
Travelling northeast from Kamloops, guests start the days with coffee and breakfast as you journey through the lake strewn Shuswap region and up past spectacular Pyramid Falls on the Thomson River. Once again, and indulgent lunch fuels an afternoon of sightseeing, crossing the Yellowhead Pass into Alberta, and catching sight of mighty Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. This quiet mountain town, filled with wildlife, restaurants, and adventure, makes Jasper the ideal location for those seeking wilderness.

RAINFOREST TO GOLD RUSH

The  three-day Rainforest To Gold Rush route takes guests from the world’s largest temperate rainforest to a desert, from a vibrant city to a quaint mountain town, and from tranquil ranch land to untamed wilderness, adding up to some of the most breathtaking and varied rail scenery found anywhere in the world. Starting in North Vancouver among coastal rainforest, the route climbs into the alpine, and then onwards to the vast Cariboo Plateau, through the Rocky Mountain Trench, and into Jasper National Park.

DAY 1 VANCOUVER TO WHISTLER
Boarding at North Vancouver Station, guests start the day with breakfast as you travel through the temperate coastal rainforest.
Climbing high above Howe Sound affords spectacular views along the fjord before entering the alpine and pulling into the mountain resort of Whistler for the rest of the day.
DAY 2 WHISTLER TO QUESNEL
Heading north from Whistler, guests enjoy breakfast onboard as the train follows the Fraser Valley through contrasting landscapes-mountains, rushing rivers and arid plateaus.
A three-course lunch is served as the journey continues into “gold country” traversing canyons that have been home to Indigenous Peoples for millennia and have long attracted prospectors.  Your destination for the evening is the rustically charming gold rush town of Quesnel.
DAY 3 QUESNEL TO JASPER
Breakfast onboard starts a day of travel through rugged northern BC and into the Canadian Rockies.  The route continues along serene lakes, rushing waterfalls, and into increasingly mountainous terrain.  After another indulgent lunch, the train heads into Canadian Rocky Mountains, taking in Mount Robson – the highest peak in the region – before reaching your final destination, Jasper
